Urchin

Summary
"Each day, you may tell 1 player you are snooping on them. Tonight, you learn if they were affected by an evil ability today."
The Urchin finds out which players the evil team is secretly manipulating.
- The Urchin must tell the player they wish to check with their ability. They can either inform the Storyteller during the day or when woken at night.
- If the Urchin did not snoop on a player, they did not wake.
- The Urchin must not snoop on more than one player a day. It is not the Storyteller's responsibility to monitor the Urchin. They're responsible for their own snooping. Telling two or more players they are being snooped on is considered cheating.
- If the player being snooped on is currently affected by an evil ability, mark that player with the AFFECTED reminder. Otherwise, mark them with the NOT AFFECTED reminder.
- Evil players without abilities because they are dead, drunk, or poisoned are not affecting other players.
- If the Urchin snoops on a player during the day while drunk or poisoned, but is sober and healthy when their ability triggers that night, the Storyteller still provides them correct information.
Good characters that have turned evil have evil abilities. They can be detected by the Urchin.
How to Run
Each day, the Urchin may approach another player and inform them that the Urchin is snooping on them. The Urchin can do so privately or publicly. They may or may not let you know immediately. The Urchin has chosen that player. If that player is under the affect of an evil ability, or becomes affected later in the day, mark them with the AFFECTED reminder. Otherwise mark them with the NOT AFFECTED reminder.
Each night except the first, if the Urchin snooped on a player, wake the Urchin. If you aren't sure who the player snooped on during the day, you may need to have them point at the player and mark the player as AFFECTED or NOT AFFECTED. If a player is marked NOT AFFECTED, shake your head no. If a player is marked AFFECTED, nod your head yes. Then, put the Urchin to sleep.
Examples
On the 1st day, the Urchin privately tells Organ Grinder that they are being snooped on. The Organ Grinder has made themselves drunk today. That night, the Urchin learns the Organ Grinder is affected by an evil ability.
The Urchin publicly declares the 2nd day that they are snooping on the Undertaker. The Undertaker is currently drunk because of the evil Puzzlemaster. That night, the Urchin learns the Undertaker is affected by an evil ability.
The Urchin forgets to tell any player they are being snooped on the 3rd night. The Urchin learns nothing that night.
The 4th day, the Urchin informs the Investigator they are being snooped on with only a few other players hearing. The Tokhsisis is poisoning the Investigator, but the Hedonist has made the Tokhsisis drunk. That night, the Urchin learns the Investigator is not affected by an evil ability.
Tips & Tricks
- Talk with everyone! Find out players you think might need watching.
- Even though you are "snooping", your ability is all about finding who is being affected by the evil team.
- If you are not sure what your information means, talk to the player you chose. Perhaps they may have an idea.
- This is not a tip, but a word of warning: the onus is on you as a player to remember your ability. You may not under any circumstances tell two different players you are snooping on them. By snooping on two different players, you have broken the rules of the game. If this happens at a time when it doesn't affect the game, usually your Storyteller and fellow players will understand, but it's nonetheless important to be reasonable with the amount of snooping you do.
- If you are not the real Urchin, it might be a good idea to tell another player you are snooping on them, especially publicly. This can protect the real Urchin.
Bluffing as the Urchin
When bluffing as the Urchin, there are a few things you should keep in mind:
- Snoop on anyone you like! They will appreciate knowing if the evil team is messing with them.
- Try not to snoop on two or more players, good players will know you are bluffing.
- The next day, approach the player you snooped on. Give them plausible reasons why they are or aren't affected by an evil ability.
- A little truth makes the lies go down easier!
