Summary
"Each day, you may publicly choose a player: they become sane, lucid & safe from their own ability until you choose again."
The Morbrigan is a healer of the mind and a protector from harm, but which team are they protecting?
- The Morbrigan's target becomes sane and lucid. Their madness or muddling, if any, is removed, and they may not be mad or muddled.
- If that player's ability would harm themselves, then that player is protected and does not hurt themselves. (For a list of what "safe" protects from, see the Brownie.)
- The Morbrigan's ability does not end at dusk, and can continue the whole game until they choose another player.
Sane is the opposite of mad: anyone unaffected by madness is sane.
Lucid is the opposite of muddled: anyone who "thinks " something is muddled. A Drunk, Lunatic, or Ogre is muddled, and so is a player affected by the Magician or Clown.
How to Run
During the day, the Morbrigan can declare that they wish to use their ability. If so, the Morbrigan points at any player. Mark them with the SANE & LUCID reminder token.
A player marked SANE & LUCID is sane and lucid (even if they are also marked MAD or ADDLED) and their own ability cannot harm them (even if an ability would make them mad or "think" something).
At the start of next night, if the chosen player is muddled about their character or alignment, wake that player. Show them the YOU ARE info token, then their character token and/or a thumb.
The Morbrigan ability prevents madness, muddling, and self-harming abilities from being applied, but does not remove reminder tokens. Once the Morbrigan's protection is removed, those players will be affected by those abilities again.
Examples
The Morbrigan chooses a player affected by the Cerenovus. That player claims their true character, and Storyteller cannot be execute them for breaking madness.
The Morbrigan chooses a player. That night, the Clown targets them, but the player is not woken.
Tips & Tricks (If you are good)
- Search for a good player you think is currently affected by madness. Hopefully they can now tell their truth.

Tips & Tricks (If you are evil)
- Protect your Demon, you know who it is and protecting them is of paramount importance.
- Most madness affects come from evil characters, but some good characters can hurt the evil team this way as well.
- Try not to accidentally protect a good player, they can also be protected from madness.
- Try not to protect the Swiper before they gain an ability. They need their madness.
