The Compere literally becomes the Storyteller, but still wins with the evil team.
- The Compere holds the Grimoire, makes all Storyteller decisions, wakes players up in the night, decides how long a day lasts, and runs votes.
- The Compere can add 1 at the end of any vote.
- The Compere can make Storyteller decisions that help the evil team, such as activating "might" abilities.
- The Compere can introduce and remove Fabled (but not Loric).
- The Compere cannot nominate unless the Bishop is in play.
- The Compere cannot be nominated unless an Atheist is on the the script.
- The Compere cannot give the evil team extra information, such as showing them the Grimoire.
- The Compere cannot break the rules unless the Atheist is in play.
The Compere stays the Storyteller until the end of the game. If they wish to give up their Storyteller powers, they can ask to enter the game as an evil Traveller. They will likely get exiled immediately.
How to Run
Once per game, the Compere becomes the Storyteller. Hand the Compere the Grimoire and take a backseat.
The Compere can use their ability at any time, day or night. They can even do so privately; players will notice who is holding the Grimoire soon shortly.
Help the Compere with rules questions and/or suggestions.
When a player comes to ask you a question, redirect them to the Compere.
Do as the Compere asks to assist the game running smoothly.
If you aren't sure if the player who draws the Compere token can handle being a Storyteller, wake them and ask. If they say no, give them a different Minion token.
Examples
The Compere becomes the Storyteller on the first night, and begins running the game immediately.
The Compere chooses to become the Storyteller with only three players alive, winning the game for evil.
The Compere puts the Ferryman in play. On the final day, all dead players regain their vote token.
