Summary

"You are good. You & the Storyteller are mad you are not the His Highness. Once per game, reveal you are His Highness."

His Highness is royalty masquerading as a pauper. When they return to court, will they be recognized?

  • His Highness must pretend to be a different character.
  • Once during the game, His Highness can reveal that they are His Highness. This should be done as dramatically as possible
  • Attempting to publicly use an ability that can be confirmed is being mad as His Highness.
  • It is not the Storyteller's responsiblity to monitor His Highness. They're responsible for their own madness. Deliberately being mad when they shouldn't is considered cheating.
  • If His Highness is dead, they can be mad about being His Highness.

If His Highness character is drawn from the bag and the Storyteller does not declare they are a Traveller, His Highness must pretend to be a non-Traveller character. However, His Highness can still travel out of the game.

How to Run

When His Highness travels in, declare that they are a different Traveller. Put that Traveller's character token in the Grimoire. Place His Highness's IS HIS HIGHNESS reminder token by the Traveller character token.

During the first night, wake His Highness. Show the YOU ARE info token then His Highness's token, then a thumbs up.

While playing the game, you must always assert that His Highness is not His Highness. You must not break this madness the entire game.

If His Highness accidentally is mad about being His Highness more than once, do not react. If you do, all players will know which player is His Highness, which is unfair for the evil team. Mistakes happen. Just play on and have a private chat later.

If His Highness becomes lucid, wake them the next night and tell them that they are His Highness. This let's His Highness know that they can be mad about being His Highness. If they become muddled again, wake them and tell them they are not His Highness.

Examples

His Highness is mad as the Deviant. They attempt to crack jokes and make a fool of themselves.

A player calls for His Highness's exile. His Highness swirls their cloak, twirls their mustache, and loudly announces that they are the His Highness. They are not believed and exiled.

Tips & Tricks

His Highness cannot be evil, so all tips are for His Highness to be good.

  • Play as the character you are pretending to be would if they were good. Seek out your teammates and attempt to find and execute the Demon.
  • When it's time to reveal you are His Highness, be dramatic and exciting. After all, you only get to do this once.
